Another beautiful family portrait session complete! I've known the Tandy's since I was a sophomore in High School (we will just say that was "many" years ago). Their youngest daughter Sarah is one of my dearest friends, and I've had the privilege to see how their family has changed and grown over the years. Amazing people and I'm very flattered that they picked me to take their family portraits this year. The session was taken in early August at Stephens Lake Park near the Darwin and Axie Hindmen Discovery Garden in Columbia, MO. Golden daisies lit up the scenery - it was beautiful!

Back in July I had an exciting opportunity to do a coop creative shoot with amazing Kansas City, MO fashion talent. We shot in studio and at the beautiful Lake Jacomo on the night of a Super Moon. The results were fantastic!
Hair/MUA: Hair & Makeup by Jennifer Model: Serena Lee: Model/Actress Featured Wardrobe: Inner Hippie Original (KANSAS CITY, MO.) — The 7th annual Kansas City Chalk and Walk Festival, a multi-cultural, community wide, street painting festival, will turn Crown Center Square into a vibrant canvas, Saturday, September 6th and Sunday, September 7th. Festivities will take place from 11:00am to 7:00pm on Saturday and 11:00am to 5:00pm on Sunday. This FREE festival will welcome hundreds of professional, amateur, and student Kansas City and regional artists, who will use chalk pastels to create colorful, charming and exciting masterpieces. This process is gradual, and imitates the 16th Century Italian style of Madonnari painting, typically done at outdoor fairs during special holy days and feasts. Visitors will be able to stroll among the artwork in progress, chat with the artists, and will be encouraged to come back the second day to see the “finished product”. Artists will choose to draw from three 2014 different themes: the Masters, Images of Kansas City/Art Images of Kansas City, and Originals. Strolling street performers will compliment the Festival. The Festival has also secured nationally and internationally known 3D and traditional master chalk muralists Jennifer Chaparro, Michael Las Casas, Wayne and Cheryl Renshaw and Craig Thomas. Four of the five muralists will be executing 3D, anamorphic chalk drawings, and a fifth artist will be reproducing a traditional masters chalk mural in honor of Thomas Hart Benton. Youngest visitors can join the Children’s Creative Corridor and Workshops. Workshops will be carried out by Michaels Arts and Crafts, Mattie Rhodes Art Center, JumpStart KC, Bayer, and the Olathe North High School science students. There is an adjacent area where young artists and their families can paint their favorite cartoon characters, or whatever pops in their imagination. The chalk is free and provided by Crayola. Kansas City Chalk and Walk Arts Educational Programs is a non-profit organization (501C3) that promotes awareness and appreciation of the arts within the community. Major sponsors include: Sprint, Crown Center, Neighborhood Tourism Development Fund, Francis Family Foundation, Hallmark, Crayola, Missouri Arts Council, Art KC, and many others.
