I fell in love with a $20 replica White Clad ice box off Craigslist. I thought it would make a great addition to our basement as an end table. Here is how I did it:

In my quest to furnish the basement I decided I wanted a tufted ottoman. I had been looking for the perfect size and shape end table, small table, or old ottoman to refinish and make my own. I found this lovely Pinterest abomination at a flea market. It was sturdy and had interesting legs. Perfect! This was my first "tufting" experience, so it's not perfect. However, I'm still excited about the results. Wait... What's up with the skull? The skull is to keep the cat from sitting on the ottoman... or is it?! Cue lightning, thunder and ominous tones! ;) {BEFORE} {AFTER}
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. From time to time I bring home these pretty horrendous pieces of furniture. My husband's reaction is always pretty priceless, but he trusts me enough to let me do my thing and create an original piece for our home. A few months ago I decided to take on the task of remodeling our basement (pictures coming in the near future). Of course that meant we would need a few substantial pieces of furniture. I found this dresser on Craigslist and it was... well, as you can see not in the best shape. However, all the drawers were in working order and it was a nice sturdy piece of furniture. I had a creative vision to transform the dresser into a TV console for the basement - as it had ample storage for DVDs and what-not. It was a long process, but I'm very pleased with the results. {BEFORE} {AFTER}
