As a family photographer, we get the opportunity to capture a lot of memories. We have families that come back every year, and we get to see their family grow and change. We bond, create memories of our own, “Hey do you remember that time B rubbed cake in her face and we panicked?!” or “Do you remember that past Autumn when 'W’s hair was so full of ringlets and the fall leaves kept getting caught in them?!” It’s exciting and it’s something I love doing so very much. I love those happy memories… and they make my job worthwhile.
Sometimes, however, we get asked to do something even more special… something that requires a lot of care. When we lose someone special to our family, it can be hard to express how that impacts us and our families. So, as a photographer, it’s up to me to find a way to make a sad memory into something beautiful that can be cherished and shared. My dear friends recently lost their long-time fur-baby, Beckham. She came to me and asked if I would embrace this idea she had as a way to memorialize him. When she asked, I teared up, and said “of course.” I don’t know of a better way to pay tribute to such a sweet and good dog. Now, I’ll tell you, I don’t normally do video montages for clients. It’s not in my list of services and while I have experience in that area, I’m not expert. But photographs and quotes just wouldn’t do it justice. Watch and enjoy (video above).
