It's that time of the year again! Festivals are overtaking the calendar! I decided to continue my Kansas City Chalk and Walk Festival participation. This year the theme was Around the World. I thought long and hard about what I concept I would create for my 6'x8' chalk mural. I decided to take a spin off of the novel Around the World in Eighty Days by French writer Jules Verne. The novel plot went well with the theme (read about it here), and it would involve a vintage hot air balloon and some interesting Wonders of the World - which I loved! Of course, some of the kiddos didn't make the connection to the novel.. but their creative minds came up with all sorts of stories in regards to what the mural was about. I overheard reference to Oz the Great and Powerful the most. :) (Above Image) Photo credit: Jonathon Hackett, http://www.flickr.com/photos/nowheremanimages/ Not everyone noticed, but the hot air balloon carried a banner that read,
"The World is but a canvas to our imagination." ~ Henry David Thoreau
